Police: 2 in custody in shooting at Inkster gas station

Man in critical after being shot in face at gas station

INKSTER, Mich. – Inkster police say two suspects are in custody in connection to the shooting and robbery of a man Monday night at the Marathon gas station on the corner of Inkster Road and Avondale Avenue.

The victim was shot in his face and remains in critical condition. Police say tips from witnesses helped officers arrest a 19-year-old man and 21-year-old man.

"It's time for the bad guys to realize Inkster is a bad place for them to visit and live," said Joe Thomas, Inkster's interim police chief.

Authorities say the man was outside at a gas pump when two men approached him, robbed him and shot him. There were no drugs or cash found at the scene, so police believe the incident was not over drugs.

The suspects fled the gas station in a black Chevy Tahoe. Police have been talking to witnesses at the scene and checking surveillance video at the gas station.
