Man threatens Coast Guard station with explosives

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The area around the Coast Guard station in Grand Haven has been deemed safe after a 34-year-old man from Michigan crashed his truck through the gate Sunday morning.

Officers say a man crashed his truck through the gate at around 6:07 a.m. and broke into the station. He attacked Coast Guard workers before being taken down and arrested.

The man said he had an explosive device in the truck, but authorities say none were found.

There is no link to terrorism in this attack, officers said.

All of the Coast Guard workers are safe, authorities say.

Harbor Drive and the boardwalk in the area were closed, but have since reopened. Residents of the Sand Piper condos were asked to stay inside, but an all-clear has been given.
