Man tries to break into Grosse Pointe house after owner walks dog

GROSSE POINTE, Mich. – A resident saw a man try to break into his house from the back door Friday morning after taking his dog for a walk.

The incident happened on the 800 block of University Place at 4:30 a.m. Police say a thin, black man in a white t-shirt tried to get in through the back door, but it was locked. The suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle.

It appears the suspects from the vehicle may have followed the resident when he returned from walking his dog and hoped he didn't lock the door when he entered his house. The resident said he saw the suspects parked on the street earlier.

This incident may be connection to a break-in in Grosse Pointe Park on Friday morning. Police advise residents in the area to be aware of suspicious activity when it is still dark outside and not to hesitate to call police.
