Michigan Humane Society files motion to take "Meatball" the dog

Local 4 viewers are demanding answers after learning of a surprise, emergency motion filed late Friday by the Michigan Humane Society to take possession of a dog that is in the care of a private pet lodging service in Clinton Township.

“Meatball” is the dog’s name.

Viewers fell in love with the 100+ pound bull mastiff after being horrified watching his owner caught on camera abusing him last winner.

The dog’s owner is facing felony animal abuse charges.

“Meatball” is evidence in the case, and was being treated as such, kept in confined areas until the Macomb Co. Prosecutor placed “Meatball” to live at the “Bed and Biscuit” pet lodging in Clinton Township:

That placement was temporary, but Bed and Biscuit owner Karen Cameron has the space and the means to give Meatball his dream home, she thinks it makes the most sense that she keeps him and she was caught off guard by the MHS emergency order to take him.

The Michigan Humane Society posted this on its Facebook page over the weekend:

We will continue to follow Meatball’s journey as it progresses through the courts and through the hands of the people caring for him.
