Michigan State Police: Speeding motorcyclist crashes into car on I-696 in Farmington Hills

Police say they're investigating both drivers for drinking

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Michigan State Police said alcohol is suspected of being involved in an early-morning crash Friday on I-696 in Farmington Hills that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

Police said the motorcyclist was speeding in the westbound lanes near Middlebelt when it hit the back of a car just before 2 a.m.

The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man from Novi, is being treated at a hospital for injuries to his arm and leg.

Police said he was wearing a helmet but has a suspended license.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

Police said they are investigating both drivers for drinking.
