2 suspended in Michigan's DEQ over handling of Flint water crisis

DETROIT – An internal investigation by Gov. Rick Snyder's office has led to two suspensions over the Flint water crisis.

Two people have been suspended without pay, according to Local 4 Mara MacDonald's sources. The employees could be fired once the civil servant process is complete.

Gov. Snyder has been under intense pressure to take action. He said it was experts at the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality who mislead him to believe that Flint's drinking water was safe.

Now, there are two suspensions in that office of people who have direct regulatory control of Flint water.

Local 4 is told the hearings to determine if firings are appropriate will be expedited and held in the next few weeks.
