BLOOMFIELD TWP., Mich. - Bloomfield Township police said a 24-year-old man shot one of two people who had forced their way into his home on Monday night.
Police said the resident told them two men confronted him and demanded money inside his apartment in the 1600 block of Bloomfield Place.
The resident agreed to hand over money and led one of the intruders to a bedroom, police said.
Once in the bedroom, the resident got a gun, struggled with the intruder and ended up shooting him, police said.
The two intruders fled the home, but the one who was shot, a 21-year-old, was later found at McLaren Hospital in Pontiac. He had been shot in the hand.
Police said the second intruder who was involved has not been found. He is described as a white man in his mid-20s, about 6 feet tall, 150 pounds, wearing a dark-colored coat and stocking cap.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomfield Township police at 248-433-7760.
