Cause of Waterford house fire under investigation

No one injured in the Thursday afternoon blaze

Waterford firefighters put out Thursday afternoon house fire

WATERFORD, Mich. – The Waterford Fire Department is investigating the cause of a Thursday afternoon house fire.

Fire officials were dispatched to the 3500 block of Mann Road just after noon. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the front door of the home. Firefighters entered the home and quickly extinguished the fire. They also removed ceiling and interior walls to extinguish hidden flames.

The two residents inside the home were able to escape out a window. Firefighters rescued two cats and gave them oxygen at the scene for serious smoke inhalation.

The fire appears to have started in the kitchen. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
