Dozens of people gathered today in Waterford to rally support for more gun control.
A group called Oganizing For Action hosted the event. They are trying to promote a better understanding of how to keep guns safe. Demonstrators also called for lawmakers to vote for universal background checks and a ban on assault weapons.
The group, which is non-partisan, is also trying to encourage more people to get involved in the debate over gun control. Members of a pro-gun group called Michigan Open Carry were also on hand. They say "reasonable" debate is what's needed to settle the issue.
