Wayne County Sheriff's deputy injured in car crash

Sheriff's deputy involved in crash at Beech Daly, Cherry Hill intersection along Inkster, Dearborn Heights border

INKSTER, Mich. A Wayne County Sheriff's deputy was injured in a vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Beech Daly and Cherry Hill roads along the Inkster and Dearborn Heights border.

He was taken to Oakwood Hospital. A driver of another car also was injured and taken to Annapolis Hospital. Two people were in that vehicle.

The deputy's injuries are not life-threatening. However, the Sheriff's Department did not give more details on the crash or the deputy's specific injuries.

There also was a crash at Cherry Hill Road and Inkster Road, about a mile west of the other crash. Police have blocked off Cherry Hill Road in both directions between Beech Daly and Inkster roads.

The deputy may have been responding to the crash at Inkster Road which happened first.
