Former Wayne teacher, Brandon Tomblin, faces more sexual assault charges

Former Wayne Memorial High School teacher faces list of criminal sexual conduct charges; he is accused of sexual contact with teens while he was a teacher

DETROIT – Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy  announced Friday more charges against a former Wayne Memorial High School Teacher.

Brandon Tomblin, 26, of Canton Township, is accused of having sexual contact with two male high school students. He faces several criminal sexual conduct charges in Wayne, Garden City and Romulus.

Tomblin first was charged in Plymouth's 35th District Court with child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and distributing sexually explicit material to children.

He was arrested in March after a mother reported him to police for inappropriate behavior toward her 16-year-old son.

New charges against former Wayne teacher:

Romulus charges:

Tomblin is accused of having sexual contact with a then 16-year-old Wayne Memorial High School student when he was a teacher there on or about May 2011 at a location on Henry Ruff Road near Ecorse Road in Romulus. He faces a criminal sexual conduct third degree charge in Romulus's 34th District Court.

Wayne charges:

In Wayne, Tomblin is accused of having sexual contact with a then 17-year-old Wayne Memorial High School student on or about May 2011 at the high school. He is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct third degree and one count of criminal sexual conduct fourth degree in the 29th District Court.

Garden City charges:

Tomblin is accused of having sexual contact with a then 16-year-old and a then 17-year-old Wayne Memorial High School student on or about May 2011 at a home in Garden City. He is charged with one count of criminal sexual conduct third degree and two counts of criminal sexual conduct fourth degree in the 29th District Court.

"These are very serious charges. My client's a strong young man. He's got good family support," said Tomblin's attorney Robert Mullen.

Mullen said Tomblin will plead not guilty.

Tomblin's preliminary examination on the charges is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 4.

He had a video arraignment Friday in the 34th District Court.
