Milford man dies after truck hits trailer, rolls over guard rail into Clinton River

Truck crashes into Clinton River in Waterford Township

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Milford man was killed Monday when he lost control of his truck and crashed into the Clinton River in Waterford Township.

Police said the 20-year-old man lost control of his 2007 silver GMC Sierra around 1 a.m. on Hatchery Road near Dixie Highway.

A witness said the man lost control coming out of a curve west of Edmore Road and hit a solar-powered construction trailer. The collision caused the truck to roll over the guard rail and become partially submerged in the Clinton River.

The driver and a 22-year-old passenger from Waterford were trapped inside the truck.

When emergency crews arrived, the Waterford man was conscious and speaking. He was pulled safely out of the truck.

The Milford man was trapped inside the truck and submerged under water. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said it's unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
