Missing Northville Township girls found safe, mother arrested

Children reunited with their father

NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The father of two girls who disappeared after their mother never returned them said his daughters have been found safe.

James Peck announced via his Facebook page Sunday that his daughters, 8-year-old Caitlin and 5-year-old Charlotte, were reunited with him after tips led to their location in Florida.

Peck thanked local law enforcement and the media for help with the search, adding that they were now going to celebrate Charlotte's birthday.

"We are happy to confirm that Caitlin, Charlotte and I were reunited yesterday in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Everyone is safe - and we can now celebrate Charlotte's birthday.

"Huge thanks to each of you who helped with the search, shared tips, provided support or spread the word. Your actions and caring made a big difference - and we are so grateful.

"Special recognition goes to Kelly and Tony from Triple A Bail Bonds of MI; to the Northville Township Police Dept; Channel 7 and Channel 4 news stations; and to the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children for their perseverance and hope through some very dark hours.

Words can't say enough." he said in his full Facebook post.

The children were supposed to be back with their father on Aug. 21, but police said their mother never returned them, and took the children toward Georgia and eventually Florida.

This isn't the first time the mother of the girls has been in trouble with the law.

Courtney Peck was charged last August for fleeing Grosse Pointe Farms police after trespassing on private property with a baby in the back seat.

Northville Township police said the mother has been arrested in Florida and is awaiting extradition.

Police are still investigating the circumstances.
