Missing Ypsilanti woman's ID found at Ford Lake

Tonya Jackson has been missing since May 2014

YPSILANTI, Mich. – A new search is underway for an Ypsilanti woman who has been missing since May 2014.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said someone has found a wallet with Tonya Jackson's identification inside at Ford Lake, which is just south of Interstate 94 in Ypsilanti. A dive team was searching the water Tuesday for any more signs of Jackson.

Jackson, 42, was last seen in May 2014 at a Romulus hotel near Detroit Metro Airport. Sheriff's deputies believe Jackson, with three children and her husband at home in Ypsilanti, decided to have a date with another man.

She never returned home and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

"No matter what, even if they had to live in a cardboard box, she was going to keep them together," said her sister Nikeyta Evans. "That's what scares me the most."

Jackson's credits cards and bank accounts have not been used in more than a year. However, her name was found written on a napkin in a Steak and Shake restaurant in Ohio along with a man's name and the description of a red Chevrolet Cavalier. Nothing has ever come from that mysterious note.

Washtenaw County divers searched the shoreline of Ford Lake all Tuesday afternoon and evening. They were looking for a body and car, but found neither.

She stands 5 feet 7 inches and weighs about 180 pounds. She has brown eyes. She was driving a silver 2007 Saab 9-7x with Michigan license plate CCL 7888.
