DETROIT – The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has immediately suspended the medical license of Abdullahi Abdulkarim Mohamed, M.D., of Monroe, Michigan, based on three misdemeanor convictions.
In March, Mohamed -- a psychiatrist -- was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. As a result, Mohamed was sentenced to 365 days in jail (with credit for three days) followed by 60 months of probation with terms, and ordered to pay fines and costs.

On May 13, LARA issued an order summarily suspending Mohamed's license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction.
