More heat and storms on the way with highs in the 90s

Heat advisory continues into Thursday

DETROIT – There is no doubt about heat indices reaching triple digits on this Wednesday.

In fact, we have been seeing such numbers in SE Michigan as early as 10 a.m.

The heat and humidity rule the day, and the week for that matter.

Our highs will hit low and mid 90s today with real high humidity levels bringing those feels like temps into the 100 to 105 degree range. We may see temporary relief from the heat with a few spotty soaking thundershowers but the humidity isn't going anywhere.

Our Heat Advisory is in full effect and has been extended into Thursday. The Advisory may also be added or extended into our Friday forecast.

The air will continue to be very uncomfortable overnight with lows only dipping into the middle and upper 70s and then we're right back at it Thursday. Highs tomorrow again in the low to mid 90s with a heat index easily over 100 degrees. We will see scattered showers and storms with the heat of the day once again.

The same pattern is expected for most of Friday.

A big change comes in Friday afternoon or evening.
A cold front will plow through bringing a threat of strong to severe storms as cold air clashes with this hot and humid air mass in place now. By Saturday we will feel humidity diving down and temps falling back to the comfortable range. Highs Saturday will be in the low 80s with a chance for a few morning showers. Sunday will be a cooler start near 60 degrees early and then only in the upper 70s with sunshine in the afternoon.

Relief is in sight… but be smart in the heat in the meantime. Don't forget about your pets and neighbors.
