DETROIT – Scattered overnight snow showers should taper off in the middle of the night.
There's even the possibility for a small peek of sun Friday morning, before clouds fill back in and more light snow showers develop late in the day. I don't expect much accumulation.
Temperatures start around 20 in the immediate Detroit area, then fall into the teens by late afternoon as colder air streams in. Those of you in the farther northern and western suburbs will see the cold air first, and may start in the teens, and fall to near 10 by the end of the day. Southwest wind at 10 to 15 mph.
Yet another Alberta Clipper system brings a chance for some light snow later Saturday...especially for areas south and west of Detroit. Most of us won't see a much accumulation from this, but those of you farther south and west of Detroit -- that's you, Lenawee County -- could see an inch of snow. Highs near 20.
Sunday looks windy with a few light snow showers possible, and highs in the mid to upper 20s.
Some Arctic Air then takes hold for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with highs only in the teens, and lows near zero (or below).
HOWEVER, my long range computer models are suggesting – and this is very preliminary – that the Polar Vortex you heard so much about last week may take another slide to the south, and bring us another blast of severe cold.
