Mother of two run over, killed in Mount Clemens

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A single mother of two living in Mount Clemens was taken off life support Sunday night, after spending a week in the hospital.

Julie Williamson, 27, was hospitalized after being beaten and run over.

Her family worried about her current relationship, and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department said her boyfriend is a person of interest in the case,

Her mother, Cheryl Simmons, told Local 4 that Julie was taken off life support, when they realized her brain function would never return.

"(She was) smart, spunky, and charismatic,” Simmons said.

Sitting beside two of Williamson's five siblings, Cheryl said what Julie went through one week ago is absolutely horrific.

The night of July 9th Williamson was at a bachelorette party. Her boyfriend picked her up to take her home.

Police say there was an argument later that night and Julie was run over outside of her own house.

"She did not deserve to be found lying naked on her front lawn, while her two babies were inside, while she gasped for air,”Simmons said.

Investigators consider Williamson’s boyfriend a person of interest in the case, but are reviewing the evidence.

Julie spent a week at McClaren Hospital, and was taken off life support Sunday evening.

"She had every single rib broken but two and her collarbones,” Simmons said. “They did a cat scan and there was a gray area which meant lack of oxygen."

After the week passed, her family realized she wasn’t going to regain consciousness.

“She had several strokes all over her brain. The main thing was the lack of oxygen. Her whole frontal lobe was gone, dead.”

Williamson leaves behind two children: 9-year-old Tyler and 2-year-old Arianna.

“She's two,” Simmons said through tears. “How do you explain to a two year old that she’ll never she her mother again? There's no words for that."

Outside Williamson’s home, a sign reads "Team Julie” & “#juliestrong". as her family tried to promote domestic violence awareness.

Julie's mom wants others to run from abuse.

"Tell anybody and get out,” she said. “Because if you don't you'll end up like my daughter.”

A GoFundMe page has been created to build a trust fund for Julie’s children.  You can donate by clicking here.

Also, a fundraiser will be held Thursday, July 21 at 5 p.m. at The Hub Sports Bistro in Macomb Township.  The address is 16780 21 Mile Road, Macomb Township.
