DETROIT -

Two people from Michigan died Friday when their single-engine plane crashed into a North Carolina lake.

The FAA has identified the deceased as Steve Bown of Commerce Township and Kayrn Martin. It is thought that the two are related. Bown was the president of an auto supply company, PSI Performance Springs.

According to reports, the Cessna 350 aircraft took off from an airport in Metro Detroit and stayed overnight in North Carolina before leaving for Florida.

The plane crashed at about 2 p.m. Friday into High Rock Lake near Charlotte, N.C., according to the Salisbury Post based in nearby Salisbury, N.C.

The Post also reports that a woman's body was recovered from the lake by divers, but heavy fog delayed the search for a man's body until 9 a.m. Saturday.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board, along with local law enforcement, were investigating the crash.
