DETROIT – Andre Drummond is a star on the Detroit Pistons and he seems to live on Twitter.
While Drummond has sent many tweets that are fun and good, he put out at least one that could cost him some money.
Aside from Twitter, Drummond also likes luxury cars, such as a Mercedes he tricked out with a red wrap and special rims. He liked it and said so while praising Dynamic Customs and its owner, Bobby Joumaa.
"When I gave him the car back I'm like, 'You must take it back to a dealership and have them recalibrate or re-program the sensors in the seats for the air bags," said Joumaa.
Later, Drummond went back and asked for a different finish on the car -- each costs about $7,000. That's when things went sour.
Drummond, according to Joumaa, started demanding the second work for free. Joumaa claims Drummond threatened him. Now, he's pushing back.
Joumaa's lawsuit claims Drummond, the defendant, published false statements on Twitter regarding Joumaa's business.
Part of the lawsuit reads: "On or about May 11, 2015, Defendant tweeted on Twitter: 'If you are from MI, NEVER EVER go to @Dynamic Customs to get your car worked on. They have done things to my car that could have cost my life.'"
Joumaa takes this very seriously.
"He has a very big fan base and one man with that power can pretty much destroy my business in a matter of one tweet," said Joumaa.
His attorney, Alex Benson, said they didn't file this lightly.
"His business is down. The people who were willing to and wanted to come have work done have stepped away from him because of this terrorist attack basically on Twitter," said Benson.
Local 4 reached out to Drummond's representative for a response to this lawsuit but no reply has been received.
Meanwhile, the top tweet on Drummond's Twitter feed Tuesday afternoon is the very car he allegedly complained about.
