Plymouth Township police: Boy's attack part of teen's plan to murder family

Teen's 23-year-old boyfriend charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder

Michael Rivera

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The normal quiet of a western Plymouth Township neighborhood was shattered 2 a.m. Friday when a teenage girl's parents called 911 to rescue her injured 12-year-old brother who was cut in their home.

The boy's neck was either stabbed or slashed with a knife or a razor. He was taken to Mott Children's Hospital, treated and released. He's expected to recover from his injuries.

Police later found out the entire family was the target of a murder plot.

The parents were trying to keep their teenage daughter and her older boyfriend from seeing each other. They allegedly formed a plot to kill her brother and parents.

The two were arrested after the attack on the boy. The unidentified teen girl is being held at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility while she awaits Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy's charging decision.

The teen's boyfriend, Michael Angelo Rivera, is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit murder, and one count each of attempted murder and felonious assault. He was arraigned Sunday and is being held in jail on a $1 million cash bond.

Plymouth Township police say the girl, not her boyfriend, attacked her brother. They say Rivera appears to be the accomplice.
