Police arrest 3, find guns in triple Inkster shooting investigation

Kamiya Gross shot in right eye Tuesday

INKSTER, Mich. – 29-year-old Raphael Hearn (pictured below), of Inkster, was arraigned on Saturday and remained in jail for his involvement in the shooting of Kamiya Gross.  Hearn plead not guilty to first degree murder, two counts of assault with intent to murder and felony firearm in the 34 district court in Romulus.

"The alleged facts in this case, including the deliberate shooting that killed an infant and injured a young girl, are among the most heinous that I have ever seen," said prosecutor Kym Worthy in a statement regarding the case.

Michigan State Police said Friday they have a total of three people in custody as part of the investigation into the murder of the 2-year-old Gross.

Raymone Bernard Jackson is accused of shooting the toddler Tuesday outside a home in Inkster. Running away, Jackson allegedly fired again, hitting 12-year-old Chelsea Lancaster, who is a family friend.

Gross' father, Kenneth French, was also hit in the stomach.

Two Inkster police officers grabbed Gross, put her in their car and rushed her to a hospital, but she died.

Lancaster and French are still recovering.

Police said the shooting may have been in retaliation for a shooting earlier this year.

Police have executed 10 search warrants and found three handguns during the investigation. Two more people were arrested Thursday, but their names are being withheld until they are charged.
