DETROIT – Police found a 6-year-old girl with an 8-month-old baby Saturday evening alone on a porch at a home on Detroit’s west side.
A neighbor said the mother left for work at 7 a.m. and never returned home in the 1600 block of Tyler Street.

The young girl had a cellphone, but it was dead. The neighbor called the police because the child was on the porch screaming.
Police said there was no heat in the house and the baby was cold. The young girl thought the baby was injured and a neighbor brought the children into her home.
Police took the children to the hospital as a precaution.
