Police find person of interest in Troy murder

TROY, Mich. – Jamila Monet Vigier-Cage had just moved into a new apartment. On Saturday night she was supposed to pick up her mom, who was going to help organize her new place, but the 21-year-old never left work on Friday. Vigier-Cage was killed in the parking lot where she worked in Troy.

A coworker found Vigier-Cage's body slumped in the driver's seat of her car. She had been shot twice in the head and chest.

Troy Police started looking for Vigier-Cage's ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Cory Mullen.

Vigier-Cage and Mullen were parents to 8-month-old Josiah.

Her family said Vigier-Cage worked a full-time job and was taking classes at Oakland Community College. She dreamed of becoming a nurse

Sunday night Local 4 spoke to her family, who said their grief is incredibly raw. They said they will do everything to make sure Josiah knows just how much his mother loved him

The young woman had so many things going for her. Just a few days ago she bought a new car. In a tragic turn of events, that vehicle became a crime scene.

Police said they found Mullen in Detroit around 4 p.m. Sunday. However, at this time he has not been charged.

Vigier-Cage's family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with the expenses of a funeral service and burial. Click here if you would like to donate.
