Police identify suspects in Detroit gas station homicide

DETROIT – Detroit police have released information on two men sought in connection with a homicide early Thursday morning at a gas station near Gratiot Avenue and Eastburn on the city's east side. 

Police have named 23-year-old Derrick Everson Jr. and 24-year-old Kyrell Raymond Alonzo as suspects in the slaying.

Video from a Marathon gas station on Detroit's east side shows the moments before 22-year-old Javon Perry was gunned down Thursday morning in the middle of Gratiot Avenue.

Perry stopped for gas just after midnight at the station on Gratiot Avenue at Eastburn. Surveillance video shows him being approached by two men before the shooting.

One of the men pulled out a handgun. Perry ultimately was shot and killed as he ran away into Gratiot Avenue.
