DETROIT – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying five males possibly connected to two carjackings on Detroit’s west side.
According to police, five males entered Nickey D’s Coney Island on Davison Street on July 8 at about 12:30 a.m., and began scoping the restaurant for a possible victim. One of the males walked to the counter, and threatened a customer with a gun demanding money.

They followed the victim to his car and demanded the keys to his 2013 Ford Taurus. Police were able to stop and impound the vehicle on July 9, but the suspects escaped on foot.
On July 10 at about 4 p.m., police say two males approached a man parked outside a party store on Livernois Avenue and Linden Street and demanded the keys to his 2002 Dodge Durango. According to police, the man was waiting for his girlfriend to leave work.
Police believe the two carjackings are connected, and are seeking possible persons of interest. Anyone with information is being asked to call 800-242-HEAT. They are offering a $2,000 reward.
