The 63-year old grandmother told police that her naked grandson swung both the ax and sword around and around and threatened to kill her and his 70-year old grandfather, who was in another room. He then allegedly slammed both weapons into the living room floor.

When the grandmother tried to call the police, he reportedly smashed the telephone. She was able to call her neighbor, who came over and coaxed the man into putting the ax and machete down.

The suspect then left the home, but returned a few minutes later. His grandmother called 911 and locked herself in a bedroom for protection.

When police arrived, they arrested the man and took him to the county jail. On the way there he reportedly pounded his head on the plexiglass screen, causing his face to bleed. He was treated at Mercy Memorial Hospital before being put in jail.

Police said he had drunk a pint of alcohol and his blood alcohol content was .17. The legal limit is .08.
