Police: Threat made against DPSCD came from FBI agent's hacked system

DETROIT – The source of the threat sent to Detroit Public Schools Community District on Tuesday was identified and came from an unlikely computer.

According to police, the threat was made on an agent’s system that was hacked.

DPSCD Police Department Chief Stacy Brackens released the following statement:

“It was determined by the FBI through their forensic investigation that the threat against the district was not credible. Through their forensic investigation it was found that an agent’s system was hacked. DPSCD Police Department, FBI Detroit and the Detroit Police Department take all threats seriously and will continue to work together to ensure the safety of our community."

The threat was found not to be credible.

Detroit schools were under heightened security Wednesday as a precaution.
