ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A University of Michigan staff member told police she was knocked to the ground by a group of men who told her to "go home."
The University of Michigan Public Safety department said she reported the assault Saturday, but it happened about 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.

A staff member reported Saturday (Nov. 19) that she had been assaulted Thursday (Nov. 17) around 8:10 a.m. on Observatory Street, near Washington Heights. The subject told University Police that she had been placing coins in a parking meter, when four unknown, college-age men were running toward her. When they reached her, they reportedly elbowed her, knocking her to the ground. One jogger reportedly told her to "go home."
University Police continue to investigate this incident. Community members are urged to contact police if they have any information about this incident or if they've been the victim of a similar incident.
"We again are disturbed by this report of assault in our community," said Police Chief Robert Neumann. "If anyone has information that could help in our investigation, please contact us. Likewise if anyone believes they are the victim of an assault or possible ethnic intimidation, please call 911 right away so we can respond to the scene and search for suspects.
"Additionally, our officers are conducting additional patrols, especially in the central and medical campus areas where recent incidents have been reported. We urge community members if they observe suspicious or threatening behavior to call us right away."
