Flashpoint: Detroit's 2015 to-do list

Mayors of Detroit, Windsor join Devin Scillian

DETROIT – The first Flashpoint episode of 2015 delves into Detroit's to-do list for the year ahead, as the city moves forward from the bankruptcy issues of the past.

Devin Scillian welcomed Mayor Mike Duggan to Flashpoint to talk about the new year in Detroit and what we can expect to see going forward. Duggan said that Detroit is getting better with every passing week, but there's more work to do in the coming year.

The conversation centered around decreasing crime and violence in Detroit, as the mayor looks for ways to control what's going on around the city.

You can watch the first segment in the video above.

In the second segment, the conversation with Duggan moved to the education system and what's next in trying to improve the schools. Duggan says he doesn't foresee a situation in which he would control the schools, but the city is working through some of their bigger issues like cutting down EMS response times.

Duggan also talked about the city's outdated computer system and a few smaller issues.
