Protesters block traffic in Detroit

DETROIT – The northbound lanes of Interstate 75 briefly were blocked by protesters Tuesday evening near the Woodward Avenue exit in Detroit.

Michigan State Police and Detroit police moved the protesters off the interstate, allowing traffic to resume on the northbound lanes.

The group was being followed by police cars on Mack Avenue, blocking traffic on that road and then again on northbound Woodward Avenue. They ended up on Wayne State University's campus, where they began their march earlier Tuesday afternoon.

From Wayne State University to Detroit's eastern district precinct, protesters banded together Tuesday, creating a choir of confusion.

Hundreds marched across the city shouting their anger over a Missouri grand jury's decision not to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed unarmed teenager Michael Brown.

The group blocked I-75 northbound in the middle of rush hour, then they marched up Woodward. They stomped on the Lodge until Detroit police cleared the highway. Many protesters said they're marching with a message that transcends from Ferguson to here in Detroit.
