DETROIT – Who would’ve thought pushups could mean so much more than just a good workout?
PT in the D is hosting its third annual Pushup-Athon on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In previous years, participants have gotten supporters to pledge $1 per pushup, while others collect a flat donation for a total number, like $25 for 40 pushups.
The challenge is to see how many pushups someone can do in one minute.
Funds raised from the event benefit the athletics program for The James & Grace Lee Boggs School. The money will pay for soccer league fees and equipment.
Last year’s event raised about $3,000. This year’s goal is $5,000.
The event will happen at 1420 Washington Boulevard in Detroit.
