Racist graffiti shows up at Mount Clemens church

Vandals spray paint sign at Divine Restoration Ministries in Mount Clemens

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – Vandals struck at a Mount Clemens church Tuesday afternoon with racist graffiti spray painted on a sign.

Divine Restoration Ministries has been in the city for about 20 years. The church has another branch in Detroit.

Before Tuesday there were never any issues of racist graffiti at the church. They found out about this bad news on the Internet.

"My daughter received a phone call stating that something was on Instagram from a friend of her and it had our church on there, " said Tenesia Evans, whose husband is the church bishop.

The graffiti was spray painted out in front of the church and an attempt to spray the back of the church was made. However, the vandal bailed in mid spray.

The congregation estimates it feeds 400 less fortunate people each month.

For Evans, the whole thing is just sad.

"I'm not angry I'm just very disappointed that someone would even do this," she said.
