DETROIT – Showers and thunderstorms roll over Detroit and Southeast Michigan Friday morning.
Heavy downpours and lightning are possible during Local 4 News Morning, so drivers should watch for ponding on some roadways. The rain is ahead of cooler air, which will keep daytime temps steady or falling from the low 60s to the upper 50s.

The moisture will leave Friday afternoon and leave drier roads for the afternoon rush and Detroit Red Wings fans driving to Joe Louis Arena for playoff hockey. The Detroit Tigers are back in town for a game against the Cleveland Indians. It will become chillier for sports fans, and they'll need the jackets, hats and even gloves as temps fall from the 50s in the evening to the 40s around midnight.
Saturday will be partly sunny with a few on and off showers in the afternoon. Temps will be near a cool 65 degrees.
Mother's Day becomes chillier and breezier. Morning and brunch-time temperatures will be in the low and middle 40s. The afternoon will be just about as brisk with highs barely above 50. Skies will be mostly sunny with only a slight chance of scattered afternoon rain.
Fortunately, milder air returns Monday and beyond. Monday and Tuesday will be 60 to 65 degrees. The air will warm to the 70s by Wednesday.
