The Michigan Humane Society is excited to share that since Baron's original story posted his reward has grown to over $40,000. All of us here at MHS would like to say thank you, as we have been overwhelmed by your support for Baron.

Baron is doing well as he continues to heal and our veterinary team is still exploring options for his reconstructive surgery. He continues to receive antibiotics, nutrient rich foods and lots of love and attention from our shelter team.

The photo below shows Baron enjoying just some of the many toys, blankets and goodies he has been sent. He's even been so kind as to share some with his shelter friends.

Here's the original info from MHS in January:

The Michigan Humane Society received a call Tuesday, January 17, from a concerned citizen who saw the dog in the area and could discern its severe wounds. The MHS rescue team raced to the site, found the Rottweiler mix and rushed him back to MHS’ Mackey Center for Animal Care in Detroit. Once there, the shelter’s veterinarian staff immediately began assessing the animal’s injuries and working to make it comfortable.

“It appears that someone purposely maimed this poor dog, which has caused it a great deal of suffering,” said Mark Ramos, one of MHS’ lead cruelty investigators. “This kind of cruelty is unacceptable. We need to be a voice for these animals and as a community we need to speak through our strong actions to make sure this doesn’t happen again. If you know anything about this case, call the MHS hotline now at (313) 872-3401 and help us find the person responsible. This animal deserves justice.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Michigan Humane Society Cruelty Investigation Department at (313) 872-3401.
