DETROIT – The Detroit Crime Commission and Chief James Craig announced Friday that the award for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the Dec. 22 deadly shooting of Paige Stalker has been raised to $163,000.

The 16-year-old from Grosse Pointe was killed when a gunman opened fire on the parked car she was in on the Detroit-Grosse Pointe Park border.

Paige's mother thanked the public for their support Friday and said she wants to see the gunman taken off the streets to improve safety.

Craig said the police have received tips on the case. He cited robbery or carjacking as the potential motive for the shooting.

"We are working very hard to bring justice to those responsible for the death of this young woman," he said. "The unwavering support of the community at large has been and continues to be invaluable, as is relentless dedication of our investigative team."

The gunman is described as a black male wearing dark clothing, armed with an assault rifle, and driving a light-colored vehicle.
