Witnesses say man damaged cars, attacked mother when she wouldn't let him take her car

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Roseville police said a 35-year-old man severely beat his elderly mother and damaged a handful of cars in a hotel parking lot when she refused to let him use her car.

Police said the man called his 77-year-old mother Wednesday night from the Super 8 Motel on Little Mack asking for a ride. When he showed up, the son asked to take the car.

Police said the mother told her son no and that's when he went on a rampage. Witnesses reporting seeing the man jump on cars in the parking lot, kick windshields and break off the side view mirrors of at least six cars. He then allegedly turned on his mother.

Police said the mother was beaten so badly on her head and face that she may have suffered brain hemorrhaging. She's in critical condition at an area hospital.

The son is expected to be charged Thursday with assault.
