Roseville woman robbed, injured at bus stop Thursday night

Police say man stole $10 from purse

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A 59-year-old Roseville woman was injured Thursday night after a man grabbed her purse and spun her to the ground before she got on a bus.

Authorities say the woman was waiting for a SEMTA bus at around 11 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue after working the afternoon shift at the Rite Aid store at Gratiot and Frazho Road.

When the bus approached, the woman started walking up the street to get picked up, but an unknown man ran up behind her and grabbed her purse. When he was trying to pull the purse away from the woman, the robber spun her to the ground.

The victim suffered a severe cut over her left eye and injuries to her ribs and left shoulder, authorities say.

Police say the bus driver saw what happened and stopped. He and several passengers from the bus aided the woman and called the police.

The suspect was last seen running east through the Kroger parking lot. There is no description of his appearance.

An officer found the woman's purse on Salem Street, about two blocks from the crime scene. Authorities say the only thing missing from the purse was $10 in cash.

The woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries and is listed in fair condition.

Roseville police are investigating the incident.
