Driver in crash that killed pizza deliverywoman sentenced to prison

PONTIAC, Mich. – A man who pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge and causing a crash that claimed the life of a woman who was out delivering pizzas in Commerce Township earlier this year has been sentenced to at least four year in prison.

Goran Djordjevski was charged with operating while intoxicated causing death and leaving the scene of an accident after he hit 44-year-old Janet Reed on Pontiac Trail on Jan. 26.

"I know that nothing I say or do will be able to right the wrong that I have done," Djordjevski said. "I regret having drank and gotten in my car that day. I will carry the shame and regret of my actions on Jan. 26 to my grave."

The impact of the crash caused Reed's SUV to flip and catch fire. Djordjevski walked away from the scene, but a citizen found him and brought him back to police.

A judge sentenced him Monday to four to 15 years in prison. He'll also pay Reed's family restitution.

"I was 15 when this happened. Imagine being 15 and have to go through court knowing that someone else killed your mother while he was intoxicated. You would think that someone who is 40-something years old would know better than to drink and drive," said Reed's daughter, Jenavie.
