The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 30. It is alleged that Winfield broke into a house in the 5800 block of Radnor Street and stabbed a 39-year-old Detroit woman in the chest with the intent of sexually assaulting her. He then fled the home on foot and the woman called for help. She was taken to the hospital.
Detroit police identified Winfield as a suspect Friday afternoon. He was taken into custody just hours later during a traffic stop in the 5900 block of Harrell Street.
He was arraigned Sunday in the 34th District Court and given a $1 million cash bond.
Grosse Pointe Park police said Winfield also is a suspect in a Dec. 13 attack on a woman in the city.
