PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Several Plymouth businesses were evacuated Tuesday due to a gas leak near Harvey and Fleet streets.
Officials said businesses in the central core of downtown Plymouth along Penniman and Fleet streets were evacuated. The buildings were aired out and reopened.

Consumers Energy officials said a 2-inch plastic main that was recently installed by the utility was hit by a contractor.
Harvey Street was closed between Penniman and Ann Arbor Trail. Penniman was closed between Harvey and Main streets but reopened around 5:30 p.m.
Consumers Energy and public safety crews have stopped the gas leak and the repair process has begun.
