Shots fired during Detroit gas station robbery

Clerk says robber took off with money bag

DETROIT – Detroit police said they are looking for a robber who got away with money from a gas station on Gratiot Avenue early Tuesday morning.

A clerk at the Citgo station said that the owner was walking to his car at about 4:25 a.m. with the bag of money when he was robbed. The clerk also said the robber fired off a shot, but no one was hurt.

The thief fled on foot.

Police were searching for a black man in his 40s, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds.
