Suspect in custody after 4 vacant Detroit houses were set on fire

Fire spread to one occupied home

DETROIT – The Arson Chief says there is a suspect in custody after four fires in vacant houses were reported on Sunday.

All four of the houses set on fire were vacant. Two of the houses are at 8 Mile and Hawthorne Roads, another is at 8 Mile and Hull Roads, and the other is at 8 Mile and Greely Roads.

There were no injuries, but one fire did spread to an occupied home.

Witnesses say a man that appeared to be starting the fires was yelling at them and pulled out a gun. Arson officers chased and arrested that suspect.
