Taylor family's trailer stolen with son's dragster race car inside

TAYLOR, Mich. – For the McCarren Family in Taylor, racing is a way of life and now one of their most prized possessions was just stolen.

"This is what we do," said Rich McCarren. "Some families boat, some bowl, we spend our time at the race track."

Rich not only builds race cars for Pro RaceCraft Engineering in Taylor but his 14-year-old son Bryce has a license with the National Hot Rod Association and he races himself.

"I'm a junior dragster," said Bryce. "Ever since I've been a kid I've always loved cars, it's what I want to do when I grow up."

Bryce is already good. He's raced all over the country including Bristol, Tenn. He's earned two "Wally's" -- drag racing's most prestigious trophy. But this teen's dreams have stalled. His family's 28-foot white trailer was stolen out of their driveway Friday afternoon.

Inside was the family's golf cart and Bryce's most prized possession: his junior dragster race car.

"I was at the Milan race track with a client, Bryce was with me," said Rich. "My wife called when she got home from work and said, 'Is the trailer with you at the track?' I said no. She said, 'Well it's missing.'"

More like stolen. The family filed a police report and have been searching for the dragster for days.

"My son doesn't deserve this. I was crushed when I had to tell him," said Rich. "I just want the stuff back, I don't want any trouble, I just want it back."

"I'm sad, I was mad, I just really hope I can get it back," said Bryce.

The McCarren family is offering a $3,500 reward.

The stolen trailers Michigan plate is: D24 4817
