Taylor police: Man holds customer at gunpoint during bank robbery

Customer not hurt during robbery at PNC Bank branch on Goddard Road

TAYLOR, Mich. – Taylor police have released a photo of an armed man they said robbed a PNC Bank branch Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the man used a silver semiautomatic handgun to hold a customer hostage while he demanded money at the branch on Goddard Road just west of Telegraph Road.

The customer wasn't hurt but the man got away. Police said he fled in a car that was parked in the nearby Home Depot lot. The car may have been an early-to-mid-2000s gray Ford Taurus.

Police said they didn't know if there was a getaway driver.

The bank robber is described by police as a light-skinned black man, between 40 and 50 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a brown jacket with darker brown sleeves, navy blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, a dark ski mask with his face visible, red winter gloves, dark glasses that may be a prescription, blue jeans and black footwear.
