Teen saves family from Pontiac house fire

PONTIAC, Mich. – Of all people in this family, no one would have expected this from 13-year-old Siyae Hunt.

"Usually I'm a deep sleeper, my mama has to wake me up," said Siyae.

Family members agree.

"It's crazy because she sleeps through loud TV, music, all that stuff," said her aunt, Crystal Edwards.

However, early Thursday morning the teenager was awaken from her sleep at their home on Wall Street in Pontiac.

"Just heard the smoke alarm. the power went off," she said.

The house was on fire. Siyae went from room to room.

"I just have to get them out as soon as possible," she said.

Siyae got all nine people out of the house including seven children.

Edwards is grateful that this normally deep sleeper was listening when all their lives were dependent on it.

"I say she is a hero and I thank God that she woke us all up and she saved all of our lives because we wouldn't be standing here today talking to you," she said.
