The Tigers and A's will begin their series Saturday evening with game 1 at Comerica Park at 6:07 p.m.

The Tigers clenched the 2012 American League Central Division champions spot after a 6-3 win Monday night over the Kansas City Royals.

Detroit claims the division title for the second-straight season and second time in franchise history since joining the Central in 1998. This will be the Tigers' third trip to the postseason since 2006 when they won the AL wild card.

Tiger Miguel Cabrera also just the 15th player to win baseball's Triple Crown, joining an elite list that includes Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams and Lou Gehrig. Cabrera topped the American League with a .330 batting average, 44 homers and 139 RBIs, becoming the first Triple Crown winner in the major leagues since Boston's Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.
