Twin brothers shot on Detroit's east side, 1 fatally

DETROIT – Two 27-year-old brothers were shot while sitting in their vehicles in a parking lot in the 10000 block of Whittier Avenue on Detroit’s east side, police said.

The shooting happened at approximately 7:25 p.m. Friday.

Police said one of the brothers was sitting in a 2016 Dodge Challenger and the other was sitting in a burgundy Hyundai Elantra when they were approached by an unknown person and shot.

Authorities are unsure if the shooter acted alone or had an accomplice.

Both brothers, who were said to be twins, were taken to a hospital in critical condition. One of the brothers later died, police said.

Investigations are ongoing.
