Vandals hit Faith Christian Center in Chesterfield Township

Vandals spray-paint satanic, sexually-graphic images on Faith Christian Center

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – They have had it with vandals at the Faith Christian Center in Chesterfield Township.

The church on Gratiot Avenue just north of M-59 feeds the homeless and invites a diverse community to come through its doors. Pastor Joe Killcoyne contacted Local 4 after a destructive vandal spray-painted satanic, sexually-graphic and racist tags all over the outside of the church.

Moreover, the vandal may have broken the heating system. It was cold inside the church on Tuesday.

"All I know is the furnace was working last night and it's not working this morning," said Killcoyne.

The church moved from Mount Clemens to Chesterfield Township two years ago. They've had nothing but trouble since.

Kids outside the church have been shot at with a BB gun. Vandals have defecated on outdoor lights. Used condoms have been found and so has drug paraphernalia.

This time, it's someone with spray paint. The vandal even spray-painted the security cameras, which weren't recording at the time.

"I don't understand why anyone would wanna come and do this to a church," said associate pastor Maurice Marshall.

Local 4 asked the church to make some wanted flyers. We followed footprints in the snow from the vandalism at the church to a nearby neighborhood. We left the flyers around the neighborhood, hoping someone might be able to hand over the vandal.

If the vandal returns, the security cameras will be working properly.
