VIDEO: Car crashes into gas pumps on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – Surveillance video from a gas station on Detroit's west side shows a car violently crash into gas pumps.

Detroit police say it was about 1:30 a.m. Thursday when a 35-year-old man lost control of his Lincoln Continental and crashed it into the pumps at a Sunoco gas station at 24861 West McNichols Road between Beech Daly Road and Telegraph Road.

The driver, who appears to be ejected from the vehicle, was rushed to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Police said he lost control of the vehicle when he swerved to avoid another vehicle which blew a red light. The Lincoln swerved out of control to avoid a collision at the intersection and ultimately went up the curb and into the gas station pumps.

The driver will be arrested for driving with a suspended license, Detroit police said.
